SALUTE, Inc. -- Honor The Service

Throughout 2010 I'm helping raise money and awareness for a wonderful military family support organization: SALUTE, INC.

As an endurance athlete I've come to appreciate nothing more than the freedom to swim, bike and run -- for fun and fitness.

I can enjoy these activities because there are Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Guardsmen out in the world ensuring my, and your, freedom to do so.

This is my, and your, chance to say thank you. SALUTE, INC., passionately pursues meeting the financial, physical and emotional needs of the military service members, veterans and their families.

Swim 2.4 Miles, Bike 112 Miles, Run 26.2 Miles. Brag for the rest of your life.

I saw this clip on YouTube. I thought I'd share it.

In other news, thanks to my my three year old, Victoria, I'm now fighting a cold. I did get yesterday's upper body and core workouts in. I did get today's swim in too.

Day 1

The countdown to "official" training ended yesterday. Today is Day 1 for my 37 week training plan. I'm following the Ironman Training Plan published by Triathlon Geek (http://www.triathlongeek.com/). The first phase is the "Adaptation Phase". Today was an easy treadmill workout.

Many thanks go out to my family for the triathlon inspired Christmas gifts: bike trainer, pedals, cycling shoes, "Strenghbuilder," "Perfect Pull-up," the aforementioned treadmill, and a new bike to be purchased sometime in '09.

Here's to a great training year and a successful Ironman experience.
